서울 공평구역 유적 출토 신주(神主)의 과학적 조사 및 보존처리
서울 공평구역 제 15⋅16지구(나 지역) 유적에서 완형으로 출토된 신주 2점을 대상으로 과학적 조사 및 보존처리를 하였다. 과학적 조사 결과 육안으로 확인할 수 없던 신주의 내부에 장방형의 함중을 확인하였다. 신주는 전신과 후신으로 구성된 주신과 받침을 따로 제작하여 결합한 형태였으며 2점의 모든 부재의 수종은 밤나무속으로 식별되었다. 공평유적에서 출토된 신주 2점은 신주 제작에 대한 기록이 있는 가례의 내용과 유사하게 규격과 형태를 맞춰 제작 된 것으로 확인되었다. 출토된 신주는 PEG함침법을 적용하여 PEG#2000을 사용하여 최종 40% 까지 함침한 후 진공동결건조하였다. 건조 후 표면에 남아있는 PEG와 토양 등의 이물질을 제거 하고 PEG#4000 15%(in ethyl alcohol)을 표면에 1회 도포하여 표면 강화처리를 하였다. 신주 2점 중 1점의 받침 일부에 갈라짐이 관찰되어 epoxy계 수지를 사용하여 복원하고 색맞춤하여 보존처리를 완료하였다.
Scientific Analysis and Conservation Treatment of the Ancestral Tablet Excavated from the Site of Gongpyeong, Seoul
Scientific analysis and conservation treatment were conducted on two ancestral tablets excavated in whole form the site of the 15th and 16th districts (B area) in Gongpyeong, Seoul. As a result of scientific analysis, a rectangular empty space was confirmed inside the ancestral tablet that could not be seen with the naked eye. It was a form of manufacturing and combining a main body and a prop composed of the front side and the back side, and the tree species of all the members of the two ancestral tablets were identified as Castanea spp.. It is supposed that the two ancestral tablets excavated from the Gongpyeong site were manufactured in accordance with the standard and shape similar to the contents of “Garye”, which has records on the production of ancestral tablets. The excavated ancestral tablets were immersed to the final 40% using PEG#2000 by applying the PEG immersion method, and dried using a vacuum freeze dryer. After drying, disparate things such as PEG and soil remaining on the surface were removed, and PEG#4000 15% (in ethyl alcohol) was applied to the surface once to the surface to strengthen the surface. A slight crack was observed in a part of a prop of one of the two ancestral tablets, and it was restored using epoxy-based resin, color-matched, and conservation treatment was completed.
